Job Description:

Position Summary: We are in urgent need of a compassionate and highly skilled Home Nurse to provide dedicated healthcare and nursing services to care for my father, who has recently undergone surgery and is on tube feeding. The Home Nurse will be responsible for ensuring his comfort, well-being, and a high standard of healthcare within the family home in Kohima, Nagaland. The primary focus of this role is to maintain total hygiene and provide specialized care to promote his recovery and overall health.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Specialized Care:

   • Administer and manage tube feeding as per the prescribed schedule and instructions.
   • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, and promptly report any unusual changes.
   • Ensure that all medical procedures and care align with the post-surgery requirements and guidelines.

2. Hygiene and Sanitation:

   • Maintain absolute hygiene by following rigorous handwashing, sanitization, and disinfection protocols.
   • Carefully handle and maintain the cleanliness of the feeding tube and surrounding area.
   • Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, changing clothes, and oral care, keeping in mind the patient's comfort and dignity.

3. Medication Management:

   • Accurately administer medications, both orally and through the feeding tube, as prescribed by the medical team.
   • Keep detailed records of medication administration and report any adverse reactions.

4. Wound Care and Surgical Aftercare:

   • Attend to post-surgical wound care and dressing changes as required.
   • Follow the medical team's instructions regarding wound care, dressing, and infection prevention.

5. Nutrition and Feeding Support:

   • Prepare and administer tube feedings and ensure the patient's nutritional needs are met.
   • Monitor the patient's tolerance to tube feeding and promptly address any issues.

6. Emotional and Psychological Support:

   • Provide emotional support and companionship to the patient during his recovery process.
   • Create a warm and empathetic environment to promote his emotional well-being.

7. Hygiene Maintenance:

   • Ensure that the living space is consistently clean and safe for the patient.
   • Perform light housekeeping duties, such as cleaning and organizing, to maintain a clutter-free and hazard-free environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Nursing Credentials: A valid nursing degree or diploma and current nursing license are essential.
2. Clinical Experience: Prior experience in nursing, especially in post-surgical care and tube feeding, is highly preferred.
3. Compassion and Empathy: A deep sense of compassion, empathy, and patience are essential to provide patient-centered care and emotional support.
4. Hygiene Maintenance: A strong commitment to maintaining absolute hygiene and following strict sanitation and disinfection protocols.
