Job Description:

As a Librarian, you will be responsible for curating, managing, and promoting our collection of books, periodicals, and other resources. Your primary objective will be to create an inviting and conducive environment for patrons to explore and engage with the wealth of knowledge available within our library. Key responsibilities include:

1. Collection Development:

• Curate and acquire materials to enhance the library's collection, catering to the diverse interests and needs of our patrons.
• Evaluate existing resources regularly, identifying outdated or redundant materials for removal and replacement with relevant and current content.

2. Cataloging and Classification:

• Employ standardized classification systems to organize and catalog library materials efficiently.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of acquisitions, withdrawals, and inventory are maintained using library management software.

3. Reader Services:

• Assist patrons in locating resources, providing recommendations, and facilitating access to information.
• Offer guidance on effective research methodologies and utilize reference materials to aid patrons in their inquiries.

4. Library Programming:

• Plan and coordinate engaging programs and events to promote literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with other departments or external organizations to host workshops, lectures, and activities aligned with the library's mission.

5. Maintenance and Preservation:

• Oversee the upkeep of library facilities, ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for patrons.
• Implement preservation techniques to safeguard valuable materials from damage or deterioration.

6. Outreach and Advocacy:

• Actively promote library services and resources through marketing initiatives, social media, and community outreach efforts.
• Advocate for the importance of libraries as essential community resources and centers for intellectual growth and development.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field is preferred, although candidates with relevant experience or coursework in library services will also be considered.
• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-centric approach to service delivery.
• Proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with library management systems.
