Position Overview: The Online Course Designer will be responsible for creating engaging and effective online learning experiences. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts, instructors, and stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high-quality courses that utilize best practices in instructional design and adult learning principles. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, creativity, and a passion for education technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Course Development:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and analyze content for online courses.
- Design and develop course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, multimedia content, and interactive learning activities.
- Utilize instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to structure course content effectively.
- Content Creation:
- Create engaging multimedia content, such as videos, presentations, and interactive elements that enhance the learning experience.
- Develop assessments and evaluation tools to measure learner understanding and course effectiveness.
- Ensure all content aligns with learning objectives and adheres to established quality standards.
- Technology Integration:
- Leverage learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies to deliver online courses efficiently.
- Stay current with trends and advancements in online learning technologies, incorporating innovative tools and platforms into course design.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to course delivery and provide support to learners as needed.
- Evaluation and Improvement:
- Conduct formative and summative evaluations of courses to assess learner engagement and satisfaction.
- Analyze feedback and data to identify areas for improvement, making recommendations for course enhancements.
- Collaborate with instructors and SMEs to revise and update course content based on evaluation outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with instructional teams to align course objectives with organizational goals.
- Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to collaborative projects.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance instructional design skills and knowledge of best practices.
- Attend workshops, webinars, and conferences related to online education and instructional design.
- Share insights and strategies with team members to foster a culture of learning and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field; Masterโs degree preferred.
- Proven experience in online course design and development, preferably in a higher education or corporate training setting.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and assessment strategies.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
