Job Description:

The Virtual Information Security Operations Analyst is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the information security posture of an organization. Working remotely, this role involves continuous monitoring, analysis, and response to security threats and vulnerabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of information security principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Security Monitoring and Incident Response:
   • Monitor security alerts and logs from various sources including SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems.
   • Investigate and respond to security incidents and breaches, coordinating with other IT and security teams as needed.
   • Perform root cause analysis and develop remediation strategies for identified security issues.
   • Maintain and update incident response procedures and documentation.
2. Threat Intelligence and Vulnerability Management:
   • Gather and analyze threat intelligence to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
   • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to evaluate the security posture of the organization.
   • Implement and manage vulnerability management processes including patch management and risk assessment.
3. Security Policy and Compliance:
   • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
   • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
   • Conduct security audits and assessments to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
4. Security Tools and Technologies:
   • Manage and configure security tools and technologies including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
   • Evaluate and recommend new security tools and technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.
   • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with security tools and technologies.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Collaborate with IT and security teams to address security-related issues and projects.
   • Provide regular reports and updates on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and overall security posture.
   • Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on security best practices.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Maintain comprehensive documentation of security incidents, vulnerabilities, and remediation actions.
   • Prepare and present detailed reports on security incidents, trends, and improvements.
   • Document security policies, procedures, and best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Security Analyst or in a similar role, preferably in a remote work environment.
• In-depth knowledge of information security principles, practices, and technologies.
• Experience with security monitoring tools and technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and antivirus solutions.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote work environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud security and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating security tasks.
• Experience with threat hunting and advanced persistent threat (APT) detection.
• Knowledge of ethical hacking techniques and methodologies.
