Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Remote Learning Instructional Designer who is passionate about enhancing the learning experience through engaging, high-quality online courses. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative e-learning content and instructional materials. You will collaborate with subject matter experts, educators, and other stakeholders to ensure that the learning materials are both pedagogically sound and aligned with the intended learning outcomes. As a key player in our education and training team, you will leverage your instructional design expertise to create learner-centered experiences that support diverse learning styles and meet the needs of a global audience. You will use instructional design models, adult learning principles, and best practices in educational technology to design effective and engaging learning solutions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Course Design & Development:
- Design and develop engaging, interactive, and impactful online courses, modules, and assessments.
- Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze content and structure courses that align with learning objectives.
- Utilize instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) to create content that caters to various learning styles and preferences.
- Ensure instructional materials are accessible, visually appealing, and user-friendly across multiple devices (e.g., desktop, mobile).
- Instructional Materials Creation:
- Create high-quality multimedia instructional materials, including but not limited to e-learning modules, infographics, videos, presentations, quizzes, and other digital learning aids.
- Develop assessment strategies to evaluate learners' comprehension and retention of course materials.
- Ensure that all instructional materials follow accessibility guidelines (WCAG, Section 508) and accommodate learners with disabilities.
- Learning Management System (LMS) Administration:
- Administer, maintain, and update the LMS to support learning activities, ensuring a seamless experience for users.
- Monitor course completion, track learner performance, and generate reports for stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to the LMS and provide support to learners as needed.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with SMEs, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand content needs, objectives, and deadlines.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and workshops to provide instructional design expertise and contribute to the overall learning strategy.
- Gather feedback from learners and stakeholders to continuously improve course offerings and instructional materials.
- Evaluation & Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct regular evaluations of course effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Use data to identify areas of improvement and refine instructional content based on learner feedback and performance analytics.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in e-learning, instructional design, and adult learning theory to ensure courses are cutting-edge and effective.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing online courses and instructional materials.
- Proficiency with e-learning development tools such as Articulate 360, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) like Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
- Familiarity with multimedia production, including video editing, graphic design, and web design principles.
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while effectively managing time and multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and experience in creating accessible learning materials.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masterโs degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with gamification, simulations, or other innovative e-learning techniques.
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, or other web development languages.
- Experience working with project management software like Asana, Trello, or Slack.
- Prior experience in a corporate, higher education, or government setting designing instructional materials for adult learners.
- Experience with data analytics and using learner performance data to inform instructional design decisions.
