Key Responsibilities
Ensure Regulatory Adherence
- Maintain deep knowledge of international trade laws, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other global customs rules.
- Interpret complex trade agreements and classify goods accurately using global standards.
Oversee Operational Processes
- Review commercial invoices, bills of lading, and shipping documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure Importer Security Filing (ISF) and Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) entries are timely and accurate.
- Oversee denied party screening, customs bond compliance, and recordkeeping processes.
Identify and Mitigate Risks
- Identify compliance gaps, evaluate potential penalties, and proactively address vulnerabilities.
- Work closely with supply chain and sourcing departments to establish best practices in customs-related processes.
- Monitor regulatory updates to maintain company-wide compliance.
Foster Effective Communication
- Liaise with freight forwarders, brokers, government agencies, and internal departments.
- Educate internal teams on customs processes and provide strategic guidance on trade topics.

Qualifications
Core Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of global trade regulations, with emphasis on U.S. import/export laws.
- Proven ability to classify products and apply HTS, ECCN, and Schedule B codes accurately.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification or equivalent international accreditation.
- Experience with SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, or similar platforms.
- Previous work-from-home experience with demonstrated discipline and reliability.
