Remote Data Platform Engineer
Description
Remote Data Platform Engineer
Shape the Future of Data—From Anywhere
Are you ready to be at the heart of cutting-edge data engineering and cloud innovation? This is your chance to drive large-scale data solutions and help organizations unlock real business value, all while enjoying the flexibility of remote work. As a Remote Data Platform Engineer, you’ll help architect, optimize, and secure world-class data platforms that empower analytics, machine learning, and digital transformation. If complex technical challenges energize you and you love creating solutions in a rapidly evolving data landscape, this opportunity will feel like a perfect match.
The Impact You’ll Make
Modern companies rely on real-time analytics, robust data pipelines, and seamless data integration to outpace their competitors. In this role, your expertise will enable teams to turn massive data volumes into actionable insights. Last year, our platform processed over 10 billion transactions and provided analytics for more than 200 global clients. As a Remote Data Platform Engineer, you’ll directly shape the tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that keep data flowing and business moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, Build, and Optimize: Architect scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based data platforms using solutions like AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
- Develop Data Pipelines: Create robust ETL/ELT processes using Python, Scala, or SQL to enable high-performance data movement and transformation.
- Data Integration: Integrate disparate sources, APIs, and streaming data with tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, and dbt.
- Data Quality & Governance: Implement automated data validation, lineage, and monitoring to ensure integrity and compliance.
- Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor, diagnose, and improve platform efficiency, leveraging metrics and logs for insight.
- Security Best Practices: Implement and enforce encryption, authentication, and access controls to protect sensitive information.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions that drive results.
What Sets This Role Apart
- Next-Gen Tools: Work with state-of-the-art technology, from managed cloud data warehouses to open-source orchestration frameworks.
- Global Remote Team: Join a collaborative environment spanning multiple time zones, with support from senior data engineers and cloud architects worldwide.
- Innovation-First Culture: Contribute to an agile team that encourages experimentation and rapid prototyping. Every idea gets a fair shot, and success is measured by impact, not hierarchy.
- Measurable Results: Our platform has reduced time-to-insight by 40% and lowered cloud storage costs by 30% for enterprise clients.
Your Ideal Skill Set
- Technical Proficiency: Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Snowflake).
- Programming: Advanced skills in Python, SQL, and at least one of Scala, Java, or Go.
- Data Modeling: Deep understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and schema design.
- ETL/ELT Development: Hands-on experience with tools like Apache Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, or Informatica.
- Analytics & BI Integration: Familiarity with business intelligence platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and reporting best practices.
- DevOps & Automation: Comfortable using CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, especially when explaining technical concepts to non-technical partners.
- Remote Mindset: Demonstrated success working in distributed teams with proactive communication and self-management skills.
Tech Stack and Tools
