Key Responsibilities
Formulary Design & Management
- Review and update existing formularies based on clinical evidence, therapeutic equivalency, and financial impact.
- Assess new medications for inclusion, ensuring alignment with treatment guidelines and the specific needs of each member.
- Maintain compliance with national and state-level pharmacy regulations.
Drug Evaluation & Therapeutic Alternatives
- Conduct a comparative analysis of brand-name and generic drugs, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
- Provide therapeutic substitution recommendations to streamline member access.
- Partner with clinical teams to ensure evidence-based decisions regarding the formulary.
Collaboration with Clinical Teams
- Work cross-functionally with pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs), prescribers, and clinical reviewers.
- Offer consultative insights during P&T (Pharmacy & Therapeutics) committee reviews.
- Act as a trusted advisor on complex therapeutic categories.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Utilize pharmacy analytics tools to evaluate utilization trends, cost metrics, and member outcomes.
- Monitor formulary performance and develop reporting dashboards for leadership.
