Remote HVAC Drafter
Description
Remote HVAC Drafter
Design Comfort from AnywhereโBe the Reason Buildings Work Better
Significant buildings rely on innovative and careful planning. As our next Remote HVAC Drafter, youโll play a hands-on role in shaping spaces that genuinely work for people. Your curiosity, your knack for solving technical puzzles, and your ability to spot the details others miss will help make homes, workplaces, and public spaces more comfortable, safer, and more efficient. Here, you can do meaningful drafting work while building a flexible life you love.
What Youโll Tackle
- Develop detailed plans for heating, cooling, and ventilation systems for a diverse range of construction projects, including apartments, offices, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities.
- Turn sketches, site notes, and engineering input into clear, complete CAD drawingsโusing AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or the latest digital drafting tools.
- Double-check layouts to ensure every HVAC system meets code requirements, project specifications, and current energy and airflow standards.
- Respond quickly to comments and suggestions, updating drawings so teams on the ground always have the latest version.
- Coordinate with designers, engineers, and project managers online using shared drives, chat, and video calls.
- Keep digital files neatโorganizing versions, marked-up plans, and approvals for easy access by others.
- Adjust airflow diagrams, duct runs, and equipment lists so projects deliver real-world results, not just good ideas on paper.
- Support the team's efforts in system sizing, load calculations, and technical research whenever your input can expedite the process or provide clarity.
- Participate in remote project meetings to help resolve issues and ensure designs align with the real needs of clients.
How Youโll WorkโRemote and Connected
You can work from anywhere you feel focused and productive, as long as you have a dependable internet connection. Skip traffic and create your own daily routine. All collaboration is digital, and your teammates are just a message or video call away when you want to discuss a project or get input. Independence is balanced by supportโyouโre trusted to manage your workload, but never left on your own if you need backup.
We believe trust and respect are earned, not just claimed. Youโre encouraged to bring your perspective, share suggestions, and help us improve our collaboration. New ideas are welcomed, and teamwork is about sharing both wins and lessons learned. Whether youโre fine-tuning mechanical layouts for a sustainable business complex or revising drawings for a tech upgrade in an older building, your insights are valued at every step.
Tools Youโll Use and Learn
- CAD programs, such as AutoCAD and Revit MEP, are used for drafting, adjusting, and reviewing mechanical plans.
- Calculation toolsโlike Trace 700 and HAPโto help size equipment and make sure systems meet demands.
- Cloud-based storage and secure file sharing ensure that all project information is easily accessible and protected from loss.
- Modern team messaging and video call apps for real-time updates and quick questions.
- Cutting-edge BIM (Building Information Modeling) and remote design platforms for those eager to stay ahead of the curve.
We stay current with new tech. If thereโs a tool that speeds up design or improves accuracy, youโll be able to test it out as part of our workflow.
What Makes Someone a Great Fit?
- You have a technical diploma, degree, or hands-on experience in mechanical drafting, HVAC systems, or a related engineering field.
- You know how to produce professional drawings for HVAC projectsโwhether for new builds, renovations, or specialized facilities.
- You understand the science behind ventilation, airflow, and energy efficiency, and can spot mistakes before they become problems on site.
- Youโre good at reading technical diagrams and specs and translating them into workable plans.
- You keep yourself organizedโeven when juggling several projects at onceโand you communicate clearly and simply with others.
- You take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, and enjoy finding ways to improve your work (and the team's work).

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
1. Whatโs an ordinary day really like in this job?
Most days, youโre updating HVAC drawings, checking code stuff, or fixing weird duct issues. Sometimes youโre double-checking specs or on a quick call with an engineer. Youโll get both the easy days and the ones where everything goes sideways.
2. How do you get help or feedback when everyoneโs remote?
Usually, itโs a quick message or call. Need someone to check your drawing or answer a weird question? People answer fast and will jump on a screen share if youโre stuck. Nobody leaves you hanging.
3. Will I actually learn new skills, or is it always the same routine?
Youโll keep learning. Each project has its own problems. New codes, tools, and client requests mean youโll always run into something new. If you want to try out new software or take on a different task, you can.
4. Whatโs the most annoying or challenging part of the work?
Some days, you chase the same issue for hours. Perhaps a layout doesnโt fit, or you need to make a last-minute adjustment. Itโs not always smooth. However, when you solve a challenging problem, itโs a great feeling.
5. Is the team actually supportive, or are you on your own?
Youโll work solo a lot, but the teamโs solid. If you have a question, askโsomeone will be happy to answer. Thereโs trust that youโll get things done, but if you need to pause or clear your head, itโs cool. People respect what you do.
