Remote Mastering Engineer

Introduction: Where Sonic Precision Meets Purpose

Sound matters. Every frequency, every note, and every fade tells a story. In our mission to amplify that story across the globe, we’re seeking a passionate and detail-obsessed Remote Mastering Engineer who thrives in a diverse, collaborative environment. Whether you're enhancing the warmth of a folk acoustic album or refining the punch of an EDM banger, your artistic integrity will help shape the auditory identity of creators worldwide. This opportunity provides the flexibility to work from anywhere, the warmth of a people-first company culture, and the challenge of working at the forefront of digital audio technology—annual Salary: $84,456.

Our Journey: Rooted in Diversity, Driven by Creativity

Our creative collective began with a simple mission—to democratize high-fidelity audio production. As we grew, we never lost sight of our values. Today, our inclusive workplace is home to sound professionals from around the world. We’ve built a diverse team united by mutual respect, curiosity, and a shared belief in elevating artistry. From onboarding workshops to community forums, every employee is embraced, empowered, and heard. We’ve seen firsthand how diverse experiences enrich sonic craftsmanship, and we’re committed to ensuring every team member feels supported and valued.

Key Responsibilities: Where Engineering Becomes Emotion

  • Master a wide range of audio materials across genres and platforms, including digital streaming, vinyl, and spatial audio formats.
  • Apply EQ, compression, limiting, and stereo enhancement techniques to finalize mixes with clarity and cohesion.
  • Collaborate with mix engineers and clients to preserve artistic intent while ensuring technical excellence.
  • Provide constructive feedback and revisions to artists in a supportive, respectful manner.
  • Conduct detailed quality assurance and file validation before final delivery.
  • Manage your workflow autonomously while remaining accessible to the broader mastering team.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of loudness standards, file formats, and digital distribution requirements.
  • Communicate with empathy, especially when guiding independent artists unfamiliar with mastering expectations.

Tools & Technology: Excellence in Every Decibel

Our remote mastering engineers are equipped with industry-leading tools tailored for consistent, reliable results. You'll work with:

  • High-resolution digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Sequoia, or Pyramix.
  • Precision audio plugins from iZotope, FabFilter, Waves, DMG Audio, and Universal Audio.
  • Reference-grade DACs and monitors (e.g., Benchmark, Genelec, Neumann).
  • Plugin suites for metering, loudness normalization, and cross-platform testing.
  • Secure cloud-based session management and remote collaboration platforms.

Work Environment: Collaborative, Respectful, and Boundless

We believe creativity flourishes when people feel safe, supported, and free to be themselves. That’s why our remote culture prioritizes transparency, inclusion, and mental wellness. You'll attend virtual huddles designed to foster camaraderie, not micromanagement. Feedback flows both ways, and mentorship is a continuous process. Whether you’re working from a quiet cabin in the hills or a vibrant city loft, you’ll feel connected to a global network of engineers who champion kindness as much as craft.

We respect boundaries, honor personal time, and recognize that innovation is fueled by rest and rejuvenation. From wellness stipends to curated listening sessions, we offer ways to nurture your whole self.

Required Qualifications: Experience, Empathy, and Ears

  • Minimum 3 years of professional mastering experience in a remote or studio setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both mainstream and niche genres
  • Excellent command of critical listening and audio analysis tools
  • Proficiency in at least one major DAW and associated mastering software
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities, capable of clearly articulating technical details to non-technical clients
  • A growth mindset paired with the discipline to manage projects independently
  • Commitment to maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and team-first attitude

Preferred Attributes: Stand Out in the Soundscape

  • Experience mastering for spatial audio formats (Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics)
  • Background in audio restoration or forensic audio enhancement
  • Knowledge of mastering for different loudness standards across platforms (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube)
  • Familiarity with metadata encoding and ISRC delivery
  • Passion for mentoring emerging audio professionals
