Remote Systems Administrator

Description

Remote Systems Administrator

Role Overview

Join a forward-thinking team as a Remote Systems Administrator where reliability meets innovation. This role is ideal for tech professionals who thrive in a streamlined environment, managing critical infrastructure that supports distributed teams worldwide. With a focus on operational efficiency and proactive problem-solving, you'll ensure smooth system operations, secure data environments, and optimized user experiences across diverse platforms. If you're passionate about system architecture and enjoy working independently, this opportunity offers both stability and the flexibility to grow in a fully remote capacity. Annual Salary: $88,927. This position offers the rare chance to become the backbone of a resilient, cloud-powered IT ecosystem where operational uptime is more than just a metric—it's a mission.

Core Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage enterprise-grade systems across distributed cloud, on-premise, and hybrid networks.
  • Execute daily administrative tasks, including server maintenance, performance tuning, and load balancing.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues by diagnosing system anomalies, logs, and monitoring outputs.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and roles to ensure proper access controls and compliance.
  • Establish, test, and maintain disaster recovery procedures and data retention policies.
  • Implement network and systems security using encryption protocols, firewalls, and endpoint protection.
  • Write and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation of repetitive tasks and workflows.
  • Resolve advanced infrastructure incidents and assist with escalations from junior engineers.
  • Coordinate with developers, product teams, and external vendors to support application hosting and deployment.
  • Ensure all documentation, change records, and compliance logs are current, accurate, and accessible.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who brings both precision and vision to their work. You should be capable of implementing robust infrastructure changes while anticipating future scalability challenges. You excel at managing systems remotely, applying structured logic to improve workflows and maximize system uptime.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage Windows Server and Linux systems within enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack)
  • Comfortable supporting cloud-native tools within AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Expertise in virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, KVM, or Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Adept at using monitoring platforms like Prometheus, Zabbix, or Datadog to maintain service continuity
  • Strong understanding of secure networking principles, load balancing, and VPN management
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, log aggregation, and security compliance standards like NIST or ISO 27001
  • Strong communication, documentation, and task management skills with a proactive attitude

Our team operates with the belief that great systems are built by motivated professionals who work efficiently and collaboratively. We foster a fully remote setup that eliminates commuting stress and enhances focus. Each team member is empowered to own their tasks and suggest improvements that elevate performance. The atmosphere strikes a balance between autonomy and structured peer reviews and collaboration. You'll be supported by a lean IT leadership team that believes in transparency, trust, and continuous learning.

Communication tools are integrated seamlessly into our workflow—Slack, Zoom, Jira, and Confluence ensure alignment across time zones. Whether you're solving a latency issue or planning a systems upgrade, your input is valued, and your work directly contributes to our overall resilience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting distributed IT infrastructure
  • Certification in any of the following is preferred: CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), AWS SysOps Administrator
  • In-depth understanding of network protocols, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and containerization
  • Prior experience working within an Agile or DevOps environment is a plus

Career Growth & Development

As part of our infrastructure team, you'll be encouraged to expand your expertise through structured training, knowledge sharing, and real-world project ownership. You'll collaborate on high-visibility assignments and contribute to long-term infrastructure planning. Team members are supported to:

  • Enroll in advanced certifications with full reimbursement
  • Participate in global tech forums and cloud seminars
  • Help define technical roadmaps and platform scalability
  • Lead retrospectives and contribute to cross-functional strategy

We also promote an internal mentoring network, where engineers develop into leadership roles by sharing skills and refining processes. This role offers a platform for transformation, not just maintenance.
